Victory Square

Victory Square, BishkekThe 9th of May, 1945 is the Victory of Soviet Union over Fascist Germany Day in the Great Patriotic War started on 22nd of June, 1941. Victory Day is also a Memorial Day. Altogether through the years of this dreadful war of the XX century was lost 28 million of soviet citizens, and 130 thousand of them were the Kyrgyz people never returned home.

Usually the main festival events are held in Bishkek at eternal flame, on Victory Square, where is posted guard of honor, forces of Kyrgyz garrison and a military band. The Memorial was completed in 1985, to the 40th anniversary of victory. Three curved arcs represent a yurt; in it is a statue of Kyrgyz women. She (mother, wife), is standing under a tunduk in the form of a funeral wreath at the eternal flame, waiting for her son / husband, who never returned home from the front.
